On December 1, 2011, the Al-Qaeda media wing Al-Sahab released an audio statement by Al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri. In it, Al-Zawahiri confirms the death of top Al-Qaeda ideologue 'Attiyat Allah Al-Libi (aka Sheikh Jamal Ibrahim Al-Misrati) in an August 22, 2011 drone attack, announces that in the same month Al-Qaeda kidnapped U.S. citizen Warren Weinstein from his home in Lahore, Pakistan, and lists the demands for his release.
