Dear Friend of MEMRI,
Please Support our Efforts and Initiatives
At this time of year, we wish to thank those of you who have already supported us, and ask those of you who have not to please consider it now. We ask you to consider the fact that the scope of MEMRI's production is incomparable.
Without MEMRI’s research, the West would have no source for accurate and scholarly translations from over 100 Arabic newspapers, 90 Arabic TV channels, over 40 Iranian newspapers, 16 Iranian TV channels, 40 Turkish newspapers, and over 100 Islamist websites – all free of charge.
In fact, since the beginning of 2007 MEMRI has published its translations and analyses at a record pace.
This year alone, MEMRI has published nearly 300 full-length translations under our Special Dispatch project, and almost 100 analysis papers under our Inquiry & Analysis series. THIS AVERAGES OVER ONE FULL-LENGTH TRANSLATION AND/OR ANALYSIS FOR EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR (please note that MEMRI’s online archive from the past decade includes over 2,250 such reports).
The MEMRI TV Project’s output has been equally impressive. So far this year, MEMRI has released close to 300 translated clips, totaling over 1,250 minutes, and adding to MEMRI TV's already extensive archives: http://www.memritv.org/content/en/all_clips.htm
Since its inception, the MEMRI TV Project has produced over 15,000 minutes of translated TV footage from the Arab world and Iran – MAKING IT THE LARGEST ARCHIVE IN THE WORLD OF SUCH MATERIAL.
MEMRI’s 10th Anniversary and Expanded Online Presence
The upcoming year marks MEMRI’s 10th year of operations. The following is a preview of MEMRI's many new online initiatives:

- The MEMRI TV Project (www.memritv.org): MEMRI has recently announced the redesigned website of the MEMRI TV Project. The new MEMRI TV web site is housed on high-end servers in a state-of-the-art datacenter that features increased available bandwidth, resulting in a significantly improved end-user experience in navigating the site and in viewing MEMRI's extensive video collection.
- Islamist Websites Monitor Project (www.memriiwmp.org): This project recognizes the importance of the Internet in recruiting, propagandizing, and training terrorists around the world, and tracks their activities. It contains the largest archives in the world of jihadist Internet activities.
- The MEMRI Blog (www.memriblog.org) has been viewed over one million times this past year, and produced an astounding 2,500 blog entries for 2007.
- The MEMRI Turkish Media Blog (www.thememriblog.org/turkey): As Turkey stands at an historic crossroad, this blog follows news and events in that country.
- MEMRI Iranian Media Blog (www.thememriblog.org/iran): This blog monitors news and events occurring in Iran, that are found nowhere else in the West.

- And more to be announced soon…
Why We Need Your Support Now
In order for MEMRI to remain free of charge, we depend on readers such as you. There are multiple vital new initiatives we have planned for 2008 but do not have the funds to implement. This is where you can make a difference. Please consider helping to fund one or more of these projects. Such a donation would make a meaningful holiday gift:
- The Urdu/Pashtu language translation project
- Expansion of monitoring of Iran
- Translations into Chinese and Russian, in addition to MEMRI’s current translations into English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Japanese
- Translation of the Sudanese media
- The Middle East Freedom Forum, which will work to protect the rights of religious and ethnic minorities in the Middle East by uniting and coordinating minority organizations and activists
- Other initiatives needing support which aim to help facilitate reform in the Middle East
