PLEASE SUPPORT MEMRI

August 13, 2009
Special Announcements No. 26

Dear MEMRI Subscriber,

For over six years, The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) has relied upon the generosity of a limited number of donors, including many of our subscribers.

As a reader of MEMRI you are familiar with our ongoing efforts to monitor more countries, research more subjects, translate into more languages, and make our television translations available online as streaming video.

The production and distribution of our materials, as well as the maintenance and development of our website, requires substantial resources.

PLEASE HELP MEMRI CONTINUE TO BE FREE OF CHARGE

As 2004 is nearing its end, we ask our donors to renew their support and consider increasing their generosity. At the same time, we ask our subscribers who haven't yet contributed to MEMRI to please consider making a contribution. Your donations will help us continue providing the latest cutting-edge research dealing with the Middle East, such as the MEMRI TV Project, which was launched in July 2004. Projects that need support include:

Arab TV Monitoring Project: Log on to www.memritv.org to see what the Weekly Standard and Thomas Friedman call "invaluable" and to view over 325 video clips, along with new clips added daily in English.

Jihad and Terrorism Studies Project: www.memri.org/jihad/html

Reform Project: www.memri.org/reform.html

Arab Antisemitism Documentation Project: www.memri.org/antisemitism.html

UPCOMING PROJECTS IN 2005

As 2005 approaches, MEMRI would like to inform you of our new projects:

Afaq: MEMRI plans to launch an Arabic and Persian language website called "Afaq" (Horizons), which will focus on Reform in the Arab and Muslim world. Interactive features will include debate forums and a Blog where visitors may be able to post comments on daily affairs.

MEMRI Japan: In addition to branches in Washington D.C., London, Berlin, Jerusalem, and Baghdad, MEMRI will launch its Tokyo branch in early 2005, and begin translations into Japanese.

Turkish Language: In addition to translating material from Arabic and Persian media, beginning in early 2005 MEMRI will be translating from the Turkish media.

SUPPORT MEMRI’S PRIMETIME AD CAMPAIGN

MEMRI is looking for donors to sponsor our new initiative to air 30 second television commercials during primetime. As primetime television reaches a large and important audience, in the coming months MEMRI plans to run 30-second commercials throughout the country. This is an expensive yet important initiative. To request more information, inquire about making a large gift, or supporting this or any other project MEMRI is working on, please email 2004memridonation@memri.org
