Dear Friend:
As a valued reader of MEMRI, you are familiar with our ongoing efforts to monitor more media sources in more countries, research more subjects, translate into more languages, and further expand our reach. For these efforts, MEMRI relies solely on the generosity of our donors.
So far in 2017, MEMRI has published 526 reports and translated 149 videos from Arab and Iranian TV, and sent 257 reports by email to readers like you.
As critical events unfold in the Middle East, MEMRI continues to work around the clock, seven days a week, 365 days a year, monitoring, translating, and analyzing primary source content from the region, and making it available for free on our websites. But "Bridging the Language Gap" requires tremendous resources. Only with your support can we continue.
YOUR SUPPORT ALLOWS US TO DIRECTLY SERVE, ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIS:
- U.S. Armed Forces: Highest echelons of the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force.
- U.S. Congress: MEMRI briefs both Republican and Democratic members of Congress’ most important committees – Armed Services, Homeland Security and Government Affairs, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations.
- The White House and federal agencies, such as the Departments of State, Defense, Homeland Security, and Justice, National Counterterrorism Center, and TSA.
- Law enforcement and counterterrorism authorities in all 50 states and worldwide.

WHY YOU SHOULD SUPPORT MEMRI
Every day of the year, MEMRI monitors and researches developments in the region in numerous languages, and publishes the results of that research on our websites. MEMRI sends the latest reports that you select directly to your inbox, according to your request and your chosen areas of interest.
WHY MEMRI RESEARCH IS MORE CRITICAL NOW THAN EVER
-
As Russia's involvement and impact in the Syria crisis and in Iran grows, MEMRI monitors, translates, and analyzes all Russian media outlets, Kremlin and others, in order to provide governments and legislatures in the West with up-to-date information from Russian primary sources to assist them in their decision making.
- As lone-wolf terror attacks across the West continue, and as jihadi groups ramp up their calls for carrying them out and issue claims of responsibility for them, MEMRI continues to monitor jihadis and jihadi supporters in the West, providing significant and timely alerts and assistance to security and intelligence agencies across North America and Europe.
- As jihadi groups make rapid technological advances, MEMRI is publishing landmark reports on these advances, including on ISIS's recent weaponization of drones, jihadis' increasing use of encrypted platforms such as Telegram, and jihadi hacking attacks and hacking threats.
- Devoting special efforts to examining the territorial expansion – and withdrawal – of the jihadi movements, including ISIS as well as Al-Qaeda and its local offshoots, MEMRI publishes reports and analysis on their activity within these territories.
- Following the change in the U.S. administration, MEMRI is tracking and reporting how Iran is shifting, and sometimes reversing, its positions, seeking a closer relationship with Russia, and upgrading the status and activity of its proxies in the Middle East.
- As antisemitism and Holocaust denial continue in the Arab and Muslim world, as well as in Muslim communities in the West, MEMRI continues to expose imams in the West who preach antisemitism as well as incite to jihadi violence in Europe and in North America.
- MEMRI continues to monitor officials' statements – including incitement – in the Palestinian Authority and in Gaza, as Palestinians commemorate two terrorists who attacked Israelis, including one recently placed on the FBI's Most Wanted list.
- As voices of reform speak out more and more the Middle East – even in the Saudi Shura council, Egyptian media, and Palestinian Authority – MEMRI discovers, monitors, spotlights and highlights them in translations and analysis pieces.
THE FOLLOWING PROJECTS REQUIRE FUNDING FOR THIS YEAR
- MEMRI TV – Monitoring and translating nearly 100 Arab and Iranian channels around the clock. This project is a major resource for researchers from government, legislatures, media, and academia; MEMRI TV clips have had over 100 million views to date.
- The Tom Lantos Archives on Antisemitism and Holocaust Denial – Focusing on this phenomenon across the Arab and Muslim world, this project culminates in an annual event on Capitol Hill at which its annual report is released. Speakers from previous years have included Sen. John McCain, Imam Hassen Chalghoumi of Drancy, France, and Charlie Hebdo contributor Caroline Fourest.
- Reform Project – Identifying and amplifying the growing number of voices for reform in the region, and monitoring and analyzing the still-reverberating impact of the Arab Spring.
- Jihad & Terrorism Studies – Identifying imminent and ongoing threats, and examining trends in jihadi tactics, including cyber warfare and use of drones, including weaponized drones, as well as the use of major social media platforms, including encrypted ones, for recruiting, indoctrination, and encouraging lone-wolf attacks.
- Cyber & Jihad Lab – Researching and translating cyber jihad content originating in the Middle East, Iran, South Asia, and Africa.
- Russian Media Studies Project – Assisting Western governments and legislatures in understanding Russia's political discourse, vision, aims, and political scene, as well as the implications of its increased involvement in the Middle East.
- Iran Studies Project – Analyzing Iran's growing expansion in the region, its shifts in direction due to the new U.S. administration, its increased outreach to Russia, and more.
