On October 8, 2011, the Salafi-jihadi website Minbar Al-Tawhid Wal-Jihad published a fatwa by Abu Mundhir Al-Shinqiti, a member of the website's shari'a council, permitting a mujahid to consume alcohol during a jihad operation only if this would save his life or the lives of other Muslims. The fatwa forbids drinking alcohol solely in order to ensure the success of one's mission, unless the failure of the mission is likely to cause the deaths or arrests of Muslims....
