As The War In The Middle East Expands – And MEMRI's Vital Output Increases Exponentially – We Ask You For Your Help

September 20, 2024
Special Announcements No. 1524

On October 23, 1983, 241 U.S. service personnel were killed in the Hizbullah truck bombing of the U.S. Marine Corps barracks in Beirut. Months earlier, on April 18, a Hizbullah truck bomb at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut had killed 63 people, among them 17 Americans.

Today's strike in Beirut targeting top Hizbullah official, Ibrahim Aqil – long wanted by the U.S. for his involvement in the bombings and with a reward for up to $7 million offered by the U.S. State Department for information leading to his arrest – is a marked expansion of the war in the north of Israel against Hizbullah.

In his speech yesterday, Hizbullah secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah said that Hizbullah will not allow the residents of northern Israel to return to their homes.

But the war is not only against Israel. It is also against the U.S. and the entire West, and is being waged by Iran and its proxies Hamas, Hizbullah, Islamic Jihad, the Houthis, the Iran-backed Iraqi militias, and the Muslim Brotherhood in Qatar that is active in mosques and organizations in the U.S. As it intensifies, and as the Iran-Russia-China triad of evil, together with North Korea, is organizing against the U.S. and its allies in the Pacific, MEMRI is working 24/7 to monitor, translate, analyze, and present the mounting threats against the U.S.

In the past year of war, MEMRI has produced more translations, analysis, and videos than ever before, far outpacing all other Washington, D.C.-based think tanks focusing on the region.

This huge effort needs your support. We are reaching out to you for help in maintaining our record output levels since October 7.

With deep gratitude,
