EXCLUSIVE REPORTS
Osama Bin Laden in Audio Message 'To the People of Europe'
A new audio recording by Osama bin Laden, titled in English "A Message to the People of Europe from Shaykh Osama bin Laden" and in German "Botschaft an die Völker Europas" was posted September 25, 2009 on Islamist websites. The recording was produced by the Al-Sahab production company.
The following is a transcription of the original English subtitles accompanying the audio; in the recording, the audio plays against a backdrop of a still photo of Osama bin Laden.
Osama bin Laden: "All praise is due to Allah, who forbade injustice for Himself and made it forbidden among humans. As for what comes after: To the European peoples; peace be upon he who follows the guidance. You are aware that oppression topples those who commit it and injustice has unhealthy consequences for the unjust, and that one of the greatest forms of injustice is to kill people without right, yet this is exactly what your governments and soldiers are committing under the umbrella of the NATO alliance in Afghanistan. They are killing women, children, and elderly men whose only crime was that Bush became angry with them, although you know that they didn't perpetrate any aggression against Europe and had no connection to the events in America.
"So on what basis are you violating what you talk about holding in high esteem, like justice and human rights?"

Al-Qaeda's Pre-Elections Warning to the German People: Unless the Next Government Withdraws from Afghanistan, "Bitter Times Are Ahead"
On September 19, 2009, Al-Qaeda's distribution network, released a video warning the German people of attacks in Germany unless it elects a government that will withdraw its troops from Afghanistan. Germany is holding parliamentary elections on Sunday, September 27. The message was delivered in German by Al-Qaeda operative Bekkay Harrach, aka Abu Talha, who has appeared before in videos addressed to the German people.
In the 26-minute recording Abu Talha says that Al-Qaeda has no interest in fighting Germany; he states that if it had wanted to target Germany for no reason, Muhammad 'Ata could have "spared himself a lot of trouble." Abu Talha says Germany has become a target only because it has troops in Afghanistan, and that the German people bear the blame for this. If the Germans do not elect a government that will withdraw from Afghanistan he promises them a "rude awakening." He specifically tells Muslims in Germany that in the event of such election results they should stay away from public places in the two weeks that follow, but he promises that the city of Kiel will be left untouched.
