On November 3, 2024, the Media Office of the Executive of the State of Ahwaz shared on its X account a video report showing Ahwazi workers in the Shush Municipality in the Iran-controlled Ahwazi region protesting against the Iranian municipality officials.

Narrator: "A number of municipality employees in Shush, Ahwaz expressed their discontent because municipality officials ignored their demands to improve their living and working conditions. The employees complained about unpaid wages, the lack of implementation of the job classification plan, as well as low wages, in comparison to other employees in the municipality.

"Employees of the Shush municipality said that they perform exhausting work under hard conditions and tremendous pressure, and this requires better social protection for them, as well as guaranteeing all their rights. The Shush municipality employees said that they are discriminated against in comparison to [municipality] officials and those who are directly employed, who get more perks and benefits.

"The Shush municipality employees demanded that the responsible parties intervene in order to solve their problems. They emphasized that they have a right to fair wages, to an improvement in their working conditions, and to job security. They also demanded the just implementation of the Labor Law for all employees of the municipality, without discrimination. One of the employees said: 'Most of us work under hard conditions. We are demanding our legitimate rights. We cannot continue working this way. We provide important services for society, and we deserve to live an honorable life.'"
