Following are excerpts from news reports on an anti-American demonstration that took place in front of the U.S. embassy in Lebanon. The reports were aired on New TV and ANB TV on January 17, 2006.
News presenter: The demonstrators waved Lebanese flags, and held caricatures of U.S. President George Bush and of U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Jeffrey Feltman, with the words "Beware of Ambassador Flu." They shouted slogans against Resolution 1559 and against the policy of the U.S. administration, which they accused of inciting the Lebanese one against the other, in order to instigate a civil war.

Demonstrator: There is someone who always says there is no patronage in Lebanon, no patronage in Lebanon – as though we've come here for no reason. I'd like to say to him: It seems that the American ambassador is working as a delivery boy these days. He works as a delivery boy, but he doesn't deliver McDonald's meals. He delivers conspiracies and civil strife. He is trying to bring things back to the way they were before the civil war.
