Canada-based former PFLP official and activist Khaled Barakat discussed in an April 26, 2024 interview with Orinoco Tribune (Venezuela) what will happen following an Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. He said that "the resistance" will take over not only the military action, but also civil society, such as the education sector. Khaled Barakat is a member of the executive committee of Masar Badil, Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement. He is the husband of Charlotte Kates, the International Coordinator of Samidoun: Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, which has been associated with the PFLP.
Khaled Barakat: "The minute the Israeli army withdraws form any area in Gaza, in less than 24 hours, the resistance are back, and organizing not just the military action, but also organizing people, the social sector, and the education sector. So they are back in full force."
