Addressing the Fourth Global Convention of Solidarity with Palestine, on March 13, Chilean Senator Alejandro Navarro said that Jerusalem is not the capital of Israel, that "we firmly reject" ISIS, "an Israeli-American-Saudi creation," and that "we must establish a support line for Iran and Syria." He declared: "The return [to Palestine] is possible and is necessary right now. Not tomorrow – today!" Sen. Navarro, a philosophy professor, former vice president of the Chilean Senate, former Socialist Party member, and former presidential candidate, is the founder of Chile's Movimiento Amplio Social (the Broad Social Movement or MAS). His statements were posted on the YouTube channel of the Global Campaign to Return to Palestine, an umbrella organization of NGOs supporting the Palestinian cause.

"Many young Israelis receive benefits from Israel after their military service, and go to visit Chile. I have tabled a bill in my country, Chile, that bans Chilean Israelis from serving in the Israeli military, as long as this serves solely to exacerbate the repression of Palestine. We move forward with steadfastness, Palestine will be free, the return [to Palestine] is possible and is necessary right now. Not tomorrow – today!"
