Chinese Journalist Hu Xijin: Australia Has A Very Extreme Ideology, But Is A 'Paper Kitty Cat'; Australian Boycott Of Chinese Products Does Not Scare Us

On December 1, 2020, Hu Xijin, the Editor-in-Chief of the state-owned Chinese newspaper The Global Times, uploaded a video to his YouTube channel in which he said that Australia has a "very extreme ideology" because it thinks it is always right while Beijing is always wrong. He said that since the Australian market is a small market, China is not concerned about Australian threats to boycott Chinese products, and he said that Australia actually has a large trade surplus with China. Saying that Australian politicians lack self-awareness, Xijin added that Australia is merely a "paper kitty cat."

Hu Xijin: "In my opinion, Australia has a very extreme ideology and Canberra things that they're always right and Beijing is always wrong. I really don't get it. Where does their moral superiority come from? Some people in Australia clamoring to boycott Chinese products don't scare Chinese at all. For starters, the Australian market is a small one to China, but Australia has a large trade surplus with China. It seems many Australian politicians lack self-awareness. Australia is not even a paper tiger. It's merely a paper kitty cat."
