On December 20, 2024, CCTV Video News Agency (China) published a video report showing Chinese President Xi Jinping inspecting a PLA garrison in Macao, hours after having participated in the inauguration ceremony for the new Macao administration (see MEMRI TV Clip No. 11696).
Caption: "President Xi Jinping on December 20 inspected the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) garrison stationed in the Macao Special Administrative Region urging the military personnel to enhance defense capabilities in all aspects and contribute more to breaking new ground in the practice of 'one country, two systems' with Macao characteristics. On the afternoon of December 20, Xi reviewed the troops and met with representatives of the military personnel."
