On June 14, 2018, the "Iron and Blood Observing the World" account on the Chinese Bilibili video platform posted a video titled ""A Giant Radar Was Discovered in Cuba, Monitoring Most of the U.S. - The Pentagon: The Chinese Did It!" The video shows satellite images of a large radar station in Cuba that reportedly has discovered by the Pentagon. The narrator explains that the radar station is powerful enough to cover more than half of the United States, that it is too large to have been built by Cuba, and that the history of China-Cuba relations and U.S.-Cuba relations suggests that it belongs to China. He also says that the radar has been used to monitor U.S. missile launches, and that the only way for the U.S. to eliminate the radar station would be through military means.
Reporter: "According to June 9 foreign media reports, based on satellite images, a mysterious large-scale radar facility has appeared in a location near the U.S. border, in northern Cuba, in the Caribbean Sea. The Pentagon, analyzing its size and radio frequency information, states that this radar was only a little over 200 kilometers away from the United States.
"With full power, it can directly cover more than half of the Unites States. Particularly since the U.S. military often conducts missile testing activities in this area, anything captured by this radar system will be crystal clear. Subsequently, the Pentagon stated that this radar was not the work of the Russian military.
"It has been reported that this giant radar has in the past secretly monitored U.S. military exercises, especially missile launch intelligence. Moreover, judging from its structure and size, it occupies an area of up to 3,000 square meters, clearly beyond what Cuba can build on its own. A larger size implies stronger performance, especially when deployed so close. All of the electronic signals of the American warplanes, communications, and missiles will no longer have any privacy. Currently, the only country with the capability to build such super radar, aside from a few select U.S. allies, is China."

"For a long time, Cuba, located in America's backyard, has maintained close relations with China. Due to Cuba's excellent geographical location, China has established satellite ground stations in Cuba multiple times, while Cuba's relationship with the U.S. has been the opposite.
"Although there has been some relaxation in their relationship in recent years, with the new president taking office, U.S.-Cuba relations have once again become tense. Therefore, unless military force is used, the U.S. cannot force Cuba to remove this radar facility using any diplomatic means."
