In a December 6, 2024 lecture, on the eve of the collapse of the Assad regime, Dearborn, MI Imam Usama Abdulghani criticized the media for portraying the rebels, whom he referred to as "terrorists," as "diversity-friendly." He questioned how the FBI could offer a $10 million reward for HTS leader Abu Muhammad Al-Jolani while CNN secured an exclusive interview with him. Abdulghani also claimed that Israel had served as the "air force for the terrorists for years," while these "terrorists" were now presented as liberators of Syria. He expressed concern, stating, "If Syria falls, Palestine falls," and emphasized how Palestinians were able to resist due to Syria's support, ensuring they had access to the weapons they needed. Abdulghani has previously expressed his support for Hizbullah, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and its Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Usama Abdulghani: "The media is, they're doing several games. One of the games is that it's all over in Syria. Panic! Lose your!... Right? They've lost! That's one part of the game. The other part of the game is really interesting where they are now making these rebels, these terrorists, diversity friendly.
"I mean, if this doesn't smell like something is up, how is it that the FBI has a $10 million reward for Al-Joulani – anybody who knows where the whereabouts are – and at the same time, CNN can have an exclusive interview with him. There's not something up? Why is it that Israel has been serving as the air force for the terrorists for years? And suddenly now we're supposed to think oh they're there to liberate. Right?
"There's a reason why we are concerned, right? The reason is if Syria falls, Palestine falls. The way that the Palestinians – those that are actually on the frontlines fighting – not the ones that are sitting comfortably, the ones that are on the front lines fighting and resisting, is because of the years of Syria resisting and making sure that they can get the weapons that they need. So the enemy knows. They want to surround the resistance."
