
Following are excerpts from an interview with Egyptian author Gamal Gheitani, which aired on Dream2 TV on October 1, 2011:
Gamal Gheitani: I am hearing very disturbing things. Some Arab countries are buying off [presidential] candidates in advance. They support them with millions of Egyptian pounds.

When, for example, someone who was in a public position receives a dubious bonus of five million dollars when he leaves office, and this bonus is awarded for the first time… Where does it come from? He won't say. I asked him this question during an interview for the Al-Akhbar newspaper. I'm talking about Mr. Amr Moussa, former secretary-general of the Arab League. He took a bonus, signing the check himself.

If the Arab League had such money, why didn't it contribute it to Somalia? People are dying of hunger there. Somalia is a member of the Arab League, isn't it? Who is more worthy of it? The retiring secretary-general or a famine-stricken country?
