On September 14, 2019, Show TV (Turkey) aired a report about a Boeing 747 that the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, gave to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as a gift. The luxury plane, which is worth $400 million, has two private sitting rooms, seven bedrooms, and medical facilities. The gift was preceded by a $15 billion investment made by Sheikh Al-Thani in Turkey's economy.

Anchor: Another gesture has come from Qatar, which is helping Turkey and its economy with investments. Sheikh [Tamim bin Hamad] Al-Thani presented a plane with very special equipment to President Erdoğan as gift.

Reporter: It is 76 meters long and six meters wide, and it has two private sitting rooms and seven bedrooms. It can even [serve] as a hospital. This VIP plane, which is worth $400 million and has a capacity of 76 passengers, now belongs to President Erdoğan. This is the second gesture [from Sheikh Al-Thani], preceded by a $15 billion direct investment in Turkey. Al-Thani had actually put the plane up for sale for $400 million, but he gave up on selling it and presented it to Erdoğan as a gift. The very special giant Boeing 747-type plane landed at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport the other day and joined the presidential fleet.
