Fatah Central Committee Member Jibril Rajoub: Obama's UN Speech Idiotic, "Sounded Like the Speech of a Student Leader"

#3129 | 01:24
Source: Palestinian Authority TV

Following are excerpts from an interview with Jibril Rajoub, member of the Fatah Central Committee, which aired on Palestinian Authority TV on September 23, 2011, as a response to US President Barack Obama's speech at the UN.

Jibril Rajoub: First of all, I think that Obama's speech was idiotic. It did not even reflect the US policy or the doctrine they employed in the past. It sounded like a speech of a student leader in a university, rather than the speech of a leader of a superpower.

He talked about the Arab Spring, and about peoples' rights, and so on. The Palestinian people numbers approximately 18 million, over 55% of whom live in the diaspora, in refugee camps, in conditions that I believe necessity a stand on the part of the US administration.

In my opinion, [Obama's] refusal to acknowledge the UN resolutions constitutes a blow to his policy, and will sabotage any future American role in resolving the conflict.
