Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki said in an August 16, 2020 show on Al-Jazeera Network (Qatar) that the Palestinians' conflict with Israel is not a conflict over borders, that there is no real peace, that Allah is guarding the land, and that the Palestinian cause cannot be "whored out." Senior Hamas official Mahmoud Al-Zahhar said that the Palestinians do not want the involvement of the UAE or other "treacherous" Arab regimes in the conflict with Israel. He said that the Palestinians are the ones who have been killed and imprisoned by Israel, and that they are also the ones who have taken up arms and expelled Israel from the Gaza Strip. He said that Israel will cease to exist if these regimes stop getting involved in the issue.
Abbas Zaki: "This is an existential conflict now, now a conflict over borders. They have sanctioned the killing [of Palestinians], and we will never leave our land. I am telling you that by next year, Israel will not enjoy the status it had in the past, Inshallah. All our people who have been in slumber have by now realized that there is no peace. This is a false peace, not the 'peace of the brave' that Arafat talked about.

Mahmoud Al-Zahhar: "Who told you we want the Emiratis to be involved in this? This is about us, the owners of this land, who have been burnt by this occupation, and whose sons and commanders have been killed by it. We are the ones who are familiar with the nature of this occupation. We are the ones who went to prison and were exiled. We are the ones who negotiated with them and lost, so we resorted to weapons and expelled them from Gaza. Who told you that we need the help of these collaborating and treacherous regimes that describe Jews as sweet and the Palestinians as sons of bitches We told you were are like that? Who told you that we rely on those [Gulf] nations? Who asked them to bear arms with us? Just take your hands off of us. We are able to achieve the... After all, how did the occupation leave Gaza? Was it through negotiations with Arab countries? Was it the UAE that expelled it? Or was it the blood of the martyrs that expelled it? Take your hands off of the Palestinian land that has been occupied since 1948, off of the West Bank, and off of Gaza, and you shall see how Israel will stop to exist."
