Former Iranian diplomat Amir Mousavi said that Azerbaijan should not "play with fire," when it comes to Iran, and that it should not be lured by the Zionists, because they cannot defend themselves, let alone provide protection for others. He made his remarks on a show that aired on Mayadeen TV (Lebanon) on October 1, 2021. Mousavi went on to say that Iran is running out of patience. He added that his country has proof of "dangerous" anti-Iranian activity by the "Zionists" and ISIS, from within Azeri territory.
Amir Mousavi: "Let us not forget that despite all the U.S. military bases surrounding Iran, the U.S. has been unable to curb Iran’s internal and regional capabilities.

"The Zionist entity is harassing [Iran]. It is trying to cause some sort of rift between the countries of the region. [Our] clear message to Azerbaijan is that it should not play with fire, when it comes to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Azerbaijan should not be lured by the Zionists. The Zionists cannot even defend themselves, so how would they defend Azerbaijan if a problem arises? We hope that President Aliyev does not play the same role Saddam Hussein played, who had the support of the whole world in his war against Iran.

"The threat is serious, and the Azeri government must take urgent measures. The situation is unbearable, and Iran is running out of patience. Dangerous things have happened inside Iran. Iran has documents and damning evidence showing the [anti-Iranian] activity of the Zionists and ISIS from Azeri territory."
