Former President of Al-Azhar University: The Whole World Should Believe in Islam

The following are excerpts from an interview with former Al-Azhar University president Ahmad Omar Hashem:

Hashem: We are more than a fifth of the world's population. If we were to unite and be as one, if we were to concentrate our human, natural, and economic resources, we would become the greatest force, which is influential and we would not have to beg before anyone or show weakness.

We should strengthen this nation, as Allah wished and as it was destined, so it will lead the world. The whole world should believe in Islam, this nation must grow stronger.

The people of the occupied lands are wretched. They have nothing except for their souls. They don't even have weapons. They fight tanks and lethal weapons with only stones in their hands. This is why they turn themselves into weapons that they blow up before the enemy in order to protect their honor, land, and life. Is this reasonable?
