In an interview on Maria Maaloof's channel on YouTube on October 26, 2024, French-Tunisian Imam Hassen Chalghoumi discussed how Hamas distorted the image of the Palestinians and the Palestinian cause, as well as the perception of Islam and Muslims. He described the October 7 Al-Aqsa Flood as a wave of blood and destruction that deeply affected the Palestinian people and the residents of Gaza. Chalghoumi asserted that this event was not aimed at liberating the Al-Aqsa Mosque but was intended to destabilize Jordan, Egypt, the Gulf, and the broader Arab world. He drew parallels to the “Arab Spring,” characterizing it as a spring of destruction, and highlighted that the agenda behind this is that of Iran’s Rule of the Jurisprudent.

Hassen Chalghoumi: "Hamas did not distort the image of Islam and the Muslims only, but also the image of the Palestinians and the Palestinian cause. With regard to groups like Hizbullah and the so-called Al-Aqsa Flood – it has been nothing but a flood of blood and destruction, which has drowned the Palestinians, and the people of Gaza especially, in blood, killing, and widows. It has ripped them to pieces, dispersed them, destroyed their homes, tormented them...

"This is the [real] Al-Aqsa Flood. It was never going to liberate the Al-Aqsa Mosque, but was meant to destroy Jordan, Egypt, the Gulf, and the Arab world. It is just like the so-called 'Arab Spring,' which was a spring of destruction. Unfortunately, this is the agenda of [Iran's] Rule of the Jurisprudent, the agenda of the Iranian regime and other regimes as well."
