Jian Omar, a German politician currently serving as member of Berlin's local state parliament, said in a November 8, 2024 show on Al-Jazeera Network (Qatar) that the most deadly and destructive element in the Middle East has been the "bloodthirsty" mentality of Hamas, Hizbullah, and their leaders, and he criticized these groups for the October 7, 2023 attacks, as well as for their behavior since then. He said that they have the mindset of the past, that they cannot demand Western support while being culturally hostile to the West, and that the political elites and parties of the region should adopt rationalism and political realism and conduct themselves in a way that enables them to coexist with the world. He also said that all the European and Western aid given to UNRWA has been used to build tunnels and rockets instead of universities and hotels, and he said that the Palestinian Authority (PA) would have also died were it not for Western aid, even though much of this aid is "stolen" by Palestinian organizations and parties, including the PA itself.
Jian Omar: "What massacred the people of the region and destroyed them in these wars is the bloodthirsty mentality of Hamas, Hizbullah, and the leaders of these groups. Who carried out October 7, attacked civilians, killed women, children, and the elderly, abducted them, hid them in tunnels, filmed all of this, and took pride in this in front of the cameras and the entire world? What destroyed the people of the region is this bloodthirsty mentality, which presents the people of the region as if they are living in the Middle Ages, and bloodlust is an essential part of their lives.

"How can you demand total support from the West when you are hostile to it in your literature and your culture, and you still live in the past? If Germany, or Japan – which had nuclear bombs dropped on it by the U.S. twice – would have espoused the same mentality of living in the past, we would not have seen Germany developing after WWII, after leading the war against the West and the entire world. But it eventually surrendered, and adopted political realism. The same is true for Japan, which is an ally of the U.S. and the West today. So the people, the elites, and the political parties of the region should adopt rationalism and political realism and conduct themselves in a way that coexists with the rest of the world.

"The EU is the biggest financer of UNRWA. The Palestinian relief organization receives billions from Europe. More than 13,000 people in Gaza alone benefit from this organization.

"If the billions that came from the West would have been used in the right way, Gaza would have become a pearl on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. But what have Hamas and the other armed organizations there done? They built tunnels and rockets, instead of investing in people, and building universities and hotels. Where are the shelters that should have been there as long as Hamas wages such wars? They booby-trapped their cities, as we have also seen in Lebanon. Hizbullah has booby-trapped the region.

"If it were not for the European aid, the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank would have died. Even the social security system in the West Bank is provided by the West and the EU which gives billions, but a large part of that is stolen by Palestinian groups and political parties, and the PA."
