Hamas political bureau member Fathi Hammad said that the Jews are a treacherous people, and there can be no peace with them. He made his remarks during a rally in northern Gaza honoring members of the faction who were "martyred" during the recent fighting with Israel, which was aired on Al-Jazeera Network (Qatar) on May 30, 2021. Hammad said that the only thing Hamas has for the Jews and Zionists are the sword and the Ayyash 250 rockets, while making a throat-slitting gesture. He then led the crowd in a chant: "Put the sword against the sword, we are Muhammad Deif’s men." During the celebration a singer sang along with the crowd: "Fire salvo, after salvo, soldiers of the artillery." The song urged Hamas' artillery fighters to destroy apartments in Israel, to make Israelis stay in shelters, and to "teach Tel Aviv a lesson."
