Syrian Politician Khalaf Al-Meftah: 'We Should Target American Interests, Individuals, And Forces In The Region And They Will Flee, Like They Did After The 1983 Beirut Barracks Bombing'

Syrian politician Khalaf Al-Meftah, head of the Syrian branch of the International Quds Institution called on a December 25, 2023, show on Al-Quds Al-Youm TV (Islamic Jihad-Gaza) for attacks targeting American interests in the region. He said that the Americans are willing to supply Israel with weapons and support, but not to shed any blood for their sake. Al-Meftah gave the example of the 1983 Beirut Barracks Bombing, after which the French and American forces left the region. He said that Israel is merely a "guard dog" for the Americans.

Khalaf Al-Meftah: "U.S. interests should be targeted. Perhaps the West is giving money and weapons to Israel, but it is not ready to lose a single drop of blood [for it]. Their point of weakness lies in the targeting of their interests, individuals, and forces.

"Let me give you an example. The Americans and the French came to Beirut in 1982. They had ships here, just like now—American ships, the Sixth Fleet, and so on. Two martyrdom operations took place—the Marines base and a base of the French forces were bombed. Around 300 American and French were killed, and within a week, they fled Lebanon. We must take advantage of this. There is an American presence in the region. It should be targeted. When the Americans feel they are being targeted and besieged, they will definitely restrain their Israeli proxy, which, as everybody can now see, is nothing but a guard dog."
