Hizbullah-affiliated academic Sadek Al-Naboulsi asked in a July 6, 2024 interview that aired on OTV (Lebanon) what incentive Hizbullah would have to abide by a ceasefire achieved between Israel and Hamas. Al-Naboulsi denied that Hizbullah said it would stop fighting once the Israelis stop their operations in Gaza, despite the fact that Hizbullah Deputy Secretary-General Naim Qassem has made statements to that effect multiple times (see MEMRITV clips nos. 11167 and 11153), Al-Naboulsi continued to say that Hizbullah is taking Israel towards destruction, annihilation, and extinction.
Sadek Al-Naboulsi: "There was no statement by Hizbullah, implying that the fighting would automatically stop, when the Israelis stop [their operation in Gaza]. Hizbullah has tied this issue… If you don't mind…"
Interviewer: "Sure, go ahead. This is a new position we are hearing…"
Naboulsi: "No, it is not new. It is not. Hizbullah has tied this issue with the settlement, and the agreement that would be achieved. Obviously, we are talking about an indirect agreement between the Islamic Resistance which is Hamas, and the mediators representing the Israeli enemy. It is not something that would happen no matter what. If Hamas is crushed and then Israel holds its fire, will Hizbullah stop? If the Palestinians in Gaza are defeated, does this mean Hizbullah will automatically stop its efforts on the [Gaza] support front?

"Israel proposed to end the war in Gaza, and [in return], Hizbullah should withdraw beyond the Litani River. This is what [U.S. envoy] Amos Hochstein proposed.
"Who would accept such an equation? Is Hizbullah expected to accept it? What is this logic that some people are trying to promote? They say that Hizbullah should abide by the ceasefire, as long as the Gaza front quiets down. In exchange for what? What are you offering Hizbullah?

"I am telling you that Hizbullah is taking Israel today towards destruction. Hizbullah is taking Israel towards annihilation and extinction."
