Hizbullah MP Ibrahim Al-Moussawi Responds To 'Pager Attack': This Crime Was Like The Genocide In Gaza; Hizbullah Will Not Let It Go Unpunished; We Will Retaliate

Hizbullah MP Ibrahim Al-Moussawi said that Hizbullah would retaliate for the "heinous" crime of the 'pager attack' in a September 17, 2024 interview with Al-Jazeera Network (Qatar) shortly after the incident took place. He likened the attack, in which thousands of pagers held by Hizbullah operatives exploded simultaneously, to the "genocide crimes in Gaza." Mousawi attributed the attack to Israel and claimed that it targeted civilians as well as fighters. He spoke as he was paying a condolence call to Hizbullah MP Ali Ammar, whose son was killed in the attack. According to reports, some 4,000 people were injured in the attack and 11 were killed.

Ibrahim Al-Moussawi: "This is a crime in the full sense of the word. [Israel] targeted civilians and the Lebanese in general. They soak in the blood of the Lebanese and the civilians, and this should be condemned by everybody. We said that this is a genuine criminal aggression, which merits retaliation. Hizbullah will not let this heinous crime go unpunished and without retaliation. The Lebanese government should rise to the occasion, by filing a complaint with the Security Council. This is the least it can do.

[...]

"In a single moment, the enemy targeted thousands of Lebanese, without distinguishing... Not all of them are fighters. Therefore, we are talking about a real crime, which is similar to the genocide crimes in Gaza.

[...]

"When we talk about war, we are talking about cold-minded planning and organization. This is not the place for acting emotionally. This is war and we are waging it in the most competent manner, in defense of our county Lebanon, and in support of the resistance and our people in Gaza, as well as in order to realize what we believe to be a victory promised to us. When the enemy reaches such a level of criminality, it means that it has gone bankrupt, and that it feels the need to compensate for its defeat by targeting civilians."
