Yemeni-Houthi leader Abdul-Malik Badreddine Al-Houthi warned in a July 7, 2024 address that was aired on Al-Araby TV (Qatar) against Saudi Arabia's "collaboration" with the United States, Israel, and Britain in implementing measures to close Sanaa’s banks, airport, and seaport. He said that these countries want Saudi Arabia to be embroiled in an escalation and full-on war with the Houthis. Al-Houthi added that Saudi Arabia would be wrong to think that the Houthis are so preoccupied with their direct battle against Israel, America, and Britain that it could attempt to annihilate "our people" without any response. He continued to say that any measure by the Saudis would earn a response in kind - if Sanaa's banks, airports, and seaports are shut down, so will the Saudis’. Al-Houthi stated that this would endanger Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities and oil reserves as well as its stability and security. He accused Saudi Arabia of paying the jizya poll tax to Israel and the United States and of doing its bidding by changing its school curricula according to their demands and having their media outlets at their service.
Abdul-Malik Badreddine Al-Houhi: "When the Americans failed militarily, they sent us messages that they would urge the Saudi regime to carry out offensive and evil acts of aggression that would harm the Yemeni people. They sent us such messages.
[...]
"The first [threat] was to pressure the banks to pull out of Sanaa. This is a crazy and stupid measure. Nobody in the world thinks like this.
[...]
"Then they turned to another measure, and [threatened] to shut down the Sanaa airport, and stop the flights, which are very limited, and carry sick people to Jordan for medical treatment.
[...]
"Israel, America, and Britain continued to incite the Saudis, urging them to shut down the [Sanaa] port, and prevent ships from going there. In other words, they want to embroil [the Saudis] in this, and take the situation with us back to the way it was at the peak of the escalation in the past nine years. This means that they will embroil them in an escalation and a full-on war, worse than what we had in the past.
[...]
"If the Saudi regime thinks that because we are involved in a direct battle with the Americans, the British, and the Israelis, in light of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, we will not be able to do anything against them, and they can just carry out such crazy and stupid measures, in an attempt to annihilate our people through famine, diseases, plagues, and a tight siege – they are wrong.
"The Saudis need to understand full well that we will never remain silent about such reckless, stupid, and idiotic measures.
[...]
"We will retaliate on each measure in kind. Riyadh airport for Sanaa airport, banks for banks, and their ports for our port.
[...]
"If you choose to become involved at the expense of your interests, your security, your stability, and bring danger upon your oil [facilities], your huge oil reserves, and your economic capabilities, and draw problems upon yourselves – that's your choice. What can we do with you, if you are that stupid, and if you are collaborators of the Americans and Israelis? You are doing everything for the sake of Israel – you change your school curricula, you place your media outlets at their service, and you pay the Jizya poll tax to the Israelis and the Americans. So if you want to do things that are even worse, the consequences upon you will be dire. Rest assured, the consequences will be dire for you. If you bring upon us a situation where we have no choice, we will act with full conviction and resolve.
"We already have problems, war, siege, and suffering, but this does not mean that we will let you annihilate our people, and bring upon it total collapse, just to avoid [further] problems. Let there be thousands and thousands of problems, and let things deteriorate to whatever level they might, because we are acting out of belief in our just cause, and the clear injustice done to us."
