Houthi-Yemeni political analyst Ali Al-Mahtawi discussed the July 19, 2024 Houthi UAV attack against Tel Aviv, that killed an Israeli civilian and injured several more in a residential building near the U.S. consulate, in a July 22 show on NBN TV (Lebanon). He said that Yemenis have been chanting "Death to America!" and "Death to Israel" for 20 years, and now this slogan is being translated into offensive operations against the "Israeli entity." Al-Mahtawi added: "We initiated the attack against Israel. It was not the other way around." When asked by the interviewer about the Yemeni people's support for the Houthi operation in Bab Al-Mandeb, Al-Mahtawi said that if they had no missiles, the Yemeni people would block the Bab Al-Mandab Strait with their own bodies and swim to sea and turn themselves into "human sea mines."
Ali Al-Mahtawi: "The range of the Jaffa UAV — that is the place that will be targeted time and again. It can also be any other place. Once this UAV penetrated the [Israeli] airspace and air-defense in occupied Palestine, this will now be the range of all the other missiles and UAVs — Tel Aviv and its surroundings.

"We do not consider any Arab country to be our enemy. It is they who have turned us into a threat. They did. We do not see them as a threat. They see us as a threat. They trusted the Americans and confronted us. However, Allah be praised, Yemen has managed to fend them off and neutralize them, so that it can be free to engage in this war. The purpose of this Yemeni military presence is to serve as a promising, upcoming, and influential Arab military force in any war — not only in support of Gaza, but also in the war for liberating Palestine in its entirety. This is the main goal of the Yemenis. For 20 years, in the mountains, valleys, hills, plains, and desert of Yemen, we have been shouting 'Death to America! Death to Israel!'
"This 'Death to Israel!' Is now being translated from a mere slogan, and from defensive operations against people who attacked us, into offensive operations against the Israeli entity. We initiated the attack against Israel. It was not the other way around."

Interviewer: "Do all the Yemenis support this?"
Al-Mahtawi: "Yes, absolutely. They support it in any possible way. If we did not have any missiles, they would have blocked Bab Al-Mandeb with their own bodies. If in order to close Bab Al-Mandeb, a million people had to swim at sea, and block the strait — one or two million Yemenis would do it. They would have blocked the Red Sea this way, if we had no missiles, military force, or sea mines. We would have swum at sea and turned ourselves into human sea mines, in order to prevent any Israeli navigation in the Red Sea."
