Iranian Majles Member Mohammad-Reza Sabbaghian Bafghi: In Response To The Gaza War And The Killing Of Haniyeh, Khamenei Should Revoke His Fatwa Banning Production Of Nuclear Weapons; Why Should The 'Bullies' Have Nuclear Weapons And Not Us?

Iranian Majles Member Mohammad-Reza Sabbaghian Bafghi said in a Majles session that the Iranian National Security Council should recommend to the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to revoke the fatwa prohibiting the production of nuclear weapons. In an August 11, 2024 session of the Majles, which was aired on IRINN TV (Iran), he said that "under the new circumstances" and in response to the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and the killing of Palestinians in Gaza, Iran should produce nuclear weapons. Bafghi asked how come the "bullies" are permitted to have nuclear weapons while Iran and other Islamic countries are not.

Mohammad-Reza Sabbaghian Bafghi: "In accordance with its moral and humane principles, and despite having all the necessary capabilities, Iran has not pursued nuclear weapons, in keeping with the fatwa of our esteemed Leader. It has deemed the production of nuclear weapons to be haram, and avoided it so far. Under the new circumstances, the officials of our country, the Islamic Majles and especially our National Security Council should look into the global events and see how a fictitious and murderous regime [Israel] despite all international rules and regulations, under the nose of the so-called Muslim countries, and in full view of the world – kills hundreds of thousands of Muslim Palestinians, and nobody says a word.

"In addition to the support of the Western countries, [Israel] relies entirely on its possession of nuclear weapons, which has forced all others to be silent and surrender. With the exception of the Islamic resistance, Iran, and some countries, the entire region is silent. Under these circumstances and due to the tyrannical Western rules – and especially the bloodsucking and murderous Israel – how much longer can we wait and watch these hyena-like powers?

"We are asking the National Security Council to look into the new circumstances, and if necessary, to suggest to the esteemed Leader – in view of the dynamic jurisprudence of Islam – to pave the way for the production of defensive and deterring nuclear weapons. What wisdom, rationale, and law dictates that bullies must have nuclear weapons, but Iran and other Muslim countries cannot?

"In my opinion, the reciprocal action of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in response to the killing of the Palestinians in Gaza and especially Ismail Haniyeh, should be the production of a weapon that Israel and other tyrannical countries already possess today."
