In a speech delivered on November 15, 2019 at the Islamic Unity Conference, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that while the erasing of Israel is a recurring theme in the rhetoric of Iranian Revolution Leader Khomeini and current Iranian senior officials, this does not mean that the Jews must be erased. Israel must be erased by the real people of Palestine, Muslims, Christians, and Jews voting for their true representatives and driving Netanyahu and other “riffraff foreigners” who are the “real thugs” out. The crowd in attendance responded with the chants “Inshallah” and “Death to Israel!” Khamenei said that although some people claim it is inconceivable that Israel will be erased after 60 or 70 years of existence, we can see that in the Balkans peoples gained independence after a similar period of time. “This will happen” he said, “We support the people of Palestine.” Khamenei said that America is not only the enemy of Iran, but it is hostile towards all the Islamic world and countries. He added that the West monopolizes nuclear knowledge and capability and only permits other countries to obtain this knowledge by surrendering their honor and independence and this is why they prevent Iran from having nuclear power. Khamenei said: “Every action taken to obtain this [nuclear] power is [religious] good.” The speech was aired on Channel, 1 Iranian TV.

Ali Khamenei: The world of Islam in its entirety must help Palestine.
Crowd: Allah Akbar! Allah Akbar! Allah Akbar! Khamenei is the leader! Death to those who oppose the Rule of Jurisprudent! Death to America! Death to England! Death to the hypocrites and infidels! Death to Israel!
Ali Khamenei: In the statements of the late Imam [Khomeini], and in those of the high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic, the erasing of the State of Israel is a recurring theme. The enemies interpret this in the wrong way. Erasing the State of Israel does not mean erasing the Jewish people. We have no business with them. This is about erasing this forced regime. Erasing Israel means that the Palestinians, the real owners of the land – Muslims, Christians, and Jews alike… The real owners will elect their own government. Riffraff foreigners, like Netanyahu and all those… These are real thugs. [The people of Palestine] should remove them, drive them out, and run their country on their own. This is what erasing Israel means, and this will happen.

Ali Khamenei: Some people think that this is inconceivable, now that 60 or 70 years have passed. In the Balkans, several countries have become independent after 60-70 years, and the peoples regained their identity. There is nothing inconceivable about that. “That is not difficult for Allah.” This will happen. We support the people of Palestine. We support the independence of Palestine, the salvation of Palestine. We are not antisemites. There are some Jews in our country and they live in complete security.

America is not only the enemy of the Islamic Republic. Some think that the conflict is only between the Islamic Republic and America. No. It is true that because the Islamic Republic is active, it generates more enmity, but they are hostile towards all the Islamic world and the Islamic countries. They are hostile towards Palestine, the peoples of West Asia, the people of North Africa, and all the Muslims. The reasons for that is the essence of Islam. Islam negates injustice, domination, and arrogance.

Nuclear energy is needed by the nations. In the future, all the nations will need nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. The monopolized westerners want to keep it for themselves, and to give it to other nations drop by drop, in exchange for the honor and independence of these nations. This is why they oppose the nuclear activity of the Islamic Republic. After all, they know that we refrain from pursuing nuclear weapons from a basic religious perspective. We oppose this. They want to deny us this knowledge this industry, this capability. This is how they treat us and this is how they treat others. They say: “Buy from us. Don’t enrich [uranium].” Every action taken to obtain this power is [religiously] good.
