Iranian political analyst Emad Abshenas said in a September 21, 2020 interview on Mayadeen TV (Lebanon) that by signing peace deals with the UAE and Bahrain, Israel wants to "drag" Iran into attacking these countries in the same way that Iraq had been "dragged" into attacking Kuwait. Abshenas said that the UAE and Bahrain would not be able to withstand an Iranian attack and may be destroyed entirely if this were to happen.
Emad Abshenas: "Azerbaijan and Georgia prevented the Israelis from establishing [military] bases, because they knew that these bases could lead them to a conflict with Iran. Today, when it comes to the Arab states in the Persian Gulf, and in particular the UAE and Bahrain, the Israelis want what happened in Kuwait to happen again [in the UAE and Bahrain]. Iraq was dragged into attacking Kuwait, and [the Israelis] want to repeat this, by dragging Iran into attacking the UAE and Bahrain. They know that the UAE and Bahrain are incapable of withstanding such an attack. They do not have any strategic depth that could help them confront an Iranian attack. Therefore, the UAE and Bahrain may be completely destroyed. This is what the Americans and the Israelis want."
