In a Friday sermon delivered in Tehran on January 9, 2015, Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami denounced the Paris terror attacks and accused the West of being responsible for terrorism, saying that it "secretly nurtured these monsters and serpents."
Following are excerpts:
Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami: We strongly denounce the terrorist attack in France. We believe that Islam does not permit the killing of innocent people, whether in Paris, in Syria, in Iraq, in Yemen, in Pakistan, or in Afghanistan. The question is who is behind the killing of all those innocent people in those countries, and who provides them with weapons. It is the American dollars, the English pounds, and the EU euros.
You are the ones who have secretly nurtured these monsters and serpents. Those who sow the wind shall reap the storm. These terrorists feed from your own hands. These terrorists feed off the political support given by you and your allies. The solution is for you to cease these Satanic deeds. Now that the soap of terror has touched your bodies, you should know that the path that you have been taking for a decade, in which you assist the terrorists, is a mistaken path, and you should desist from this path, if you are truthful when you talk about defending human rights and humanity.
