Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei: Europe and U.S. Know We Do Not Look for Nuclear Weapons

The following are excerpts from an address by Iranian leader Ali Khamenei:

Khamenei: Two or three years ago I said in this forum: We had an Islamic revolution, following which we established an Islamic regime. The next step is to establish an Islamic government and the following step is to establish an Islamic state, and the step after this is to establish an Islamic civilization… The Islamic International Civilization. We are currently in the stage of the Islamic state and government. We must create the Islamic rule.

As for the nuclear issue, I believe that Europe and America are not as concerned as they profess to be. They know that we are not looking for nuclear weapons. Time and again we insist on it, but they nod their heads and say "no." although they know that we don't want nuclear weapons. The issue is to keep the Islamic regime preoccupied. One of their main objectives is to keep the Islamic regime preoccupied. The [negotiating] parties should know: Iran lives. The Iranian people lives. It is a living being, which knows how to behave logically, how to move, to negotiate, to defend itself, and also knows how to punch when necessary.
