On May 31, 2019, Hamoon TV (Iran) aired a music video to a song titled "Death = America", by Iranian singer Hamad Zamani. The video shows Zamani sculpting a skeleton holding stone tablets and a Jewish menorah in the fashion of the Statue of Liberty. Zamani sings: "How many people paid with their blood for your stars... Even death is too small a punishment for you... Like a ghost, it roams the streets of Las Vegas... Death lies in the purposeless lives [led] in the godless homes... All your promises are illusions... The land is strewn with corpses of doves... Your lifeline is pulling the world towards death." The music video was produced by NASRTV, an Internet channel, as part of Iran's "Down with USA Grand Award" competition, which first took place in 2013.
Hamad Zamani: "You tell me: What is it in the hand of that statue? It is a flame straight from Hell. How similar it is to those stars on the flag... You tell me: How many people paid with their blood for your stars? Your crimes are so many that even death is too small a punishment for you. Death is so familiar to you. Like a ghost, it roams the streets of Las Vegas. Death lies in the purposeless lives [led] in the godless homes. Death lies in the incarceration of the spirits of people. Now, the silence has turned into a voice, and how familiar this voice is to you... Open your ears. The voice is calling: 'Death to American! Down with the USA!' All your promises are illusions. Your emblem is the bald eagle, and the land is strewn with corpses of doves. The wounded throat of our voice is more familiar to your claws. The cobbled streets are still wet from the tears of the mothers and the blood of flowers buds. You want people to say that your flag is superior to all. You want people to say that your civilization is superior to all. Yes, you are superior in killing doves, in rubbing salt into the wounds of mothers, in initiating wars and in sowing strife among countries. You are superior in science – the kind of science that kills people. Your lifeline is pulling the world towards death."
