Al-Jazeera Report About Hamas's Invasion Of Israel Features Footage Of Slain Israeli Forces, Shows Israeli Soldiers, Civilians Being Captured: Hamas Has Destroyed Israel's Iron Image (Viewer Discretion Advised)

On October 7, 2023, Al-Jazeera Network (Qatar) shared on its X (formerly Twitter) account a report about Hamas's same-day surprise invasion of southern Israel, which has so far resulted in the deaths of over 700 Israelis and the wounding of approximately 2000. The report features footage from the invasion, of Hamas fighters capturing Israeli soldiers and civilians and holding them as hostages in underground tunnels, of slain Israeli security forces, and of Palestinians celebrating. The anchor said that Hamas has rapidly destroyed the Israeli military's "iron image" and that the footage from the invasion has caused the "expensive propaganda institution" to "evaporate." She said that this is a battle against a tyrannical occupation and that the invasion is reminiscent of the October 1973 Yom Kippur War, adding: "The occupation does not know what to do."

Reporter: "Is this really happening? This question popped into the head of anyone watching images that for a long time could only be imagined, but have become reality. Here, you can see Palestinian resistance fighters walking about in the fortified settler cities in broad daylight. Tanks on fire. A helicopter hit the tank right in the middle. More and more soldiers are taken captive. They are being dragged on the ground, and then they lie there terrified. An earthquake has occurred in Israel, in accordance with the magnitude and scale of the Palestinian resistance. The Saturday of October 7 evokes the memory of a Saturday from the previous century – as if it has not been half a century.

"This great Palestinian crossing has not [led to a clash] between two armies, but rather, between an occupation army armed with the most powerful weapons, and resistance fighters who, within hours, have turned upside down the balance of power described by the military institutions and colleges.

"The surprise attack started with 5,000 rockets, according to the resistance, or 3,000 rockets, according to Israel. Then began the Palestinian attack on the settler walls, known as the 'Gaza Envelope,' and they collapsed, one after the other – along with the iron image of the arrogant occupation army, which was humiliated by Palestinian men from the Al-Qassam Brigades.
