Kuwaiti Islamic Scholar Muhammad Hammoud Al-Najdi: The Quran Encourages Offensive Jihad by Means of Force; It Is Used to Humiliate Infidels, Spread Islam

Kuwaiti Islamic scholar Sheikh Muhammad Hammoud Al-Najdi said in a show that aired between July 3 – 11, 2019 on Al-Ma’ali TV (Kuwait) that offensive Jihad is a concept that exists in Islam even though some people deny its existence. He cited several Quranic verses, including ones that urge Muslims to fight and subdue non-believers until they pay a poll tax or accept Islam. He explained that this means shooting the enemy with arrows, missiles, and so forth, and that Allah provides for the Islamic nation through Jihad by giving them spoils of war, property, and land. Sheikh Al-Najdi also said that one of the purposes of Jihad is to break the power of the infidels and humiliate them. He added: “Allah tortures [the infidels] at the hands of the believers.”

Muhammad Hammoud Al-Najdi: Let’s begin by saying that some people deny that offensive Jihad exists and say that there can only be Jihad in Islam to fend off aggression, and to push oppression away from oneself. But that is not true because Allah ordered the Prophet Muhammad: “Fight them until there is no fitnah and until the religion is all for Allah.” This is a proof of [the validity of] offensive Jihad, and of the spreading of Islam and Da’wah. The same goes for Allah’s words: “Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day, and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful, and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture. [Fight them] until they give the jizya out of their hand and are utterly subdued.”

Allah says: “Prepare for them whatever force you can…” It was said that the Prophet Muhammad, after reading this verse, said from the pulpit: “Force means shooting, force means shooting, force means shooting.” That is to say that shooting the enemy with arrows, with missiles, and so on, is part of the great force that Muslims ought to prepare in order to fight the enemies of Allah.

Allah provides for the Islamic nation through Jihad against the infidels, by obtaining spoils of war, properties, lands, houses, and so on. By doing this, we are weakening the infidels and polytheists, and breaking their power. This is one of the purposes of Jihad.

Allah humiliates the infidels and polytheists through Jihad. He degrades them and humiliates them. Allah breaks their power, their pride, and their arrogance by fighting and waging Jihad for the sake of Allah. Allah tortures them at the hands of the believers.
