Lebanese Shiite Mufti Ahmad Qablan addressed UNIFIL in his August 30, 2024 Friday sermon posted on Mayadeen TV (Lebanon) on X, saying that Lebanon will not accept "any spying force," regardless of its UN credentials. He said that patrolling the frontlines without a Lebanese army escort is in fact "espionage."

Ahmad Qablan: "Israel's military tyranny in the West Bank is drawn up by Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, and the UAE.

"To UNIFIL I say that patrolling the frontline, between the houses in the villages, without being escorted by the Lebanese army, constitutes espionage. We will not accept any spying force in our country, regardless of its UN credentials."
