Mahmoud Abdel-Hady, the Imam of Maryum Islamic Center in Ellicott City, Maryland said in an October 21, 2023 lecture posted on the mosque's YouTube channel, that eventually the Muslims and the people oppressed by Western countries "will be the ones in control of things." He explained that this is because "we are a greater number," and the way Muslims have children, they will be in the majority, because the Europeans are "in minus," considering the number of children being born. He continued to say that the October 7 Hamas attack against Israel was a "great victory," like the Viet Cong's Tet Offensive, which he said led to the Americans leaving Vietnam.

Mahmoud Abdel-Hady: "When we are together with the Book of Allah and the Sunna of the Messenger of Allah, Jerusalem will be ours. There is no doubt about that. This is a promise from Allah and it is going to happen. Now, eventually, this is where we are going, where the world is going.

[...]

"Eventually, we will be the ones in control of things, or have the final say. But we really need tor realize this, why? Because simply, we are a greater number, and the way we have children, just a few years from now, we are going to be all over. Europe, for example – they are in minus, as far as the number of people who are living, and the number of children that [are being born] is by the minus. So eventually, if things need to be done, they have to be done by the Muslims – for the Muslims. It just naturally with go in that direction, you cannot escape that. I am going to say, by those who are being oppressed, those who are being oppressed by the occupiers – Western countries specifically.

[...]

"What happened during the seventh of this month was a victory. In a frame of time, that was a great victory. In certain wars in the [history] of the world before these moments of victory affected the way the whole picture went on afterwards, because the enemy no longer has the same confidence it had before. Remember what happened in Vietnam.

[...]

"[In] 1968, January 31, there was an offensive that North Vietnam did – it was called the Tet offensive.

[...]

"That moment, these hours of victory, eventually affected the scale of things, and the way of who is winning and who is losing, to the point that eventually, the United States had to withdraw from Vietnam."
