Following are excerpts from an interview with Moroccan cleric Mustafa Bin Hamza, which aired on M2 TV and was posted on the Internet on November 11, 2013:
Interviewer, quoting a viewer's question: Does the shari'a permit hacking into the credit cards of Jews, and using them to make purchases via the Internet?
Mustafa Bin Hamza: This is not allowed – whether credit cards belong to Jews, to Christians, or to atheists. This is not your money. Do you believe that disagreements over belief justify the stealing of money? People's property is forbidden to you – whether they are Jews, Christians, atheists, or Muslims. We do not claim that only the money of Muslims deserves to be honored.
When Jews or Christians coexist with Muslims as citizens of a country, they have always benefited from the moral values of Islam. Islam teaches people loyalty and teaches them to do what is right. What you are talking about is a type of theft. It begins with stealing from Jews, but will end up with stealing from Muslims. Islam does not teach such things.

This is the excellence of Islam, and we must not forfeit it because of flimsy claims. If such claims become widespread, we will turn into a nation of people who exploit opportunities and steal, under the pretext that these people are different from us. We should preach our da'wa to those who differ from us, but not steal from them or plunder their money. We should be conducting dialogue with them, in an effort to show them the moral values of Islam, and erase the stereotypical image of Islam and the Muslims.
