Following are excerpts from an interview with Morris Sadek, president of National American Coptic Assembly, which aired on Dream 1 TV on July 13, 2011:
Interviewer: When you call for international protection [for Egyptian Copts], you are kindling fanaticism by the others. The Muslims would say: You see? These Copts are not loyal to Egypt.
Morris Sadek: Don't you know that Egypt is under occupation? Every Muslim knows that he is one of Egypt's occupiers.
Interviewer: No, the Egyptians would never agree to occupation. We were occupied by a corrupt regime, but we toppled it.
Morris Sadek: History tells us that Islam and Muslim Bedouin attacked Egypt and occupied it. This occupation continues to this day, as is evident in the second article of the constitution…
Interviewer: Morris, your words kindle fanaticism among Muslims.
Morris Sadek: I'm not trying to kindle fanaticism…
Interviewer: This doesn't solve anything…
Morris Sadek: What, everything I say kindles fanaticism?
Interviewer: Absolutely.
Morris Sadek: So tell me what the solutions are.
Interviewer: You live in a society in which Muslims and Christians coexist.

Morris Sadek: In 1882, there were several massacres of Christians. Along came the British fleet and occupied Egypt. From 1882 to 1952, not a single Copt was murdered, not a single [Coptic] girl was kidnapped, and not a single Christian home was destroyed. The prime minister was a Copt, the foreign minister was a Copt…
Interviewer: So you think that the solution is a British-style occupation of Egypt?
Morris Sadek: You tell me if there is any other solution.
