Friday Sermon At The Islamic Center Of Union County, New Jersey: Homosexuality Is A Disease That Is Spreading; Thieves And Killers Have Not Run For President Of The U.S., But A Homosexual Has

In a Friday sermon at the Islamic Center of Union County, NJ, the imam, who was not identified in the video, said that homosexuality is a disease that is spreading. The imam added that all religions consider homosexuality to be a sin, the same way they view adultery, stealing, lying, and killing as sins. However, he added, "we have not seen a killer, adulterer, thief, fornicator, or liar" run for the highest office in the U.S. and yet a homosexual ran for president and subsequently became a Secretary of a Department in the U.S. government – a reference to U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg. He said that Muslims must build a shield between their children and the "disease" of homosexuality that "keeps spreading." The sermon was posted on ICUC on YouTube and Facebook on March 19, 2021. Imam: "Homosexuality goes through two phases. The first one is the psychological inclination and attraction to the same sex. This happens quite often now, even among our Muslim children because of the great exposure in our society to the homosexuals it became to them as a norm. Because of their interactions, they may start feeling that attraction to the same sex. It's like a disease that starts to spread around, especially because of the media and what we see in our days.

"Homosexuality is known as a sin in all religions. There is no doubt about that. [It is] the same as adultery, the same as stealing, the same as lying, the same as killing, these are all known sins in all religions. Isn't that the case? All religions agreed on that. Yet homosexuality takes [up] much bigger space in the public image.

"We have not seen a killer, adulterer, thief, fornicator, or liar publicly stand and run for the highest office in the United States of America, but we have seen a homosexual, who stood and ran for President of United States of America. We have seen the head of a department, Secretary of the Department, which is the second highest or third highest position or post in the USA being held be an open homosexual, who brought his husband to attend the inauguration and parties with him.

"This is a great exposure and invasion into our personal values as Muslims. We should stop this by reinforcing and building a shield between our children and this disease that keeps spreading."
