In a Friday, June 17, 2022 sermon at the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview, Illinois, Oussama Jammal, who serves as the director of the Muslim American Society (MAS) and as the Secretary-General of the U.S. Council of Muslim Organizations, said that voting is the Jihad and weapon of Muslims in America. He called on American Muslims to vote in order to influence foreign policy, and he argued that if Muslims are "strong voters" they can influence Congress to pay money to refugees created by American foreign policy. In addition, Jammal suggested that the purpose of America’s foreign policy may be to intentionally sow chaos and destruction in the Middle East, and he claimed that Muslim countries are the biggest financers of Islamophobia in America because "they don’t like this leadership of the Muslim community." Oussama Jammal: "The most money that comes to Islamophobia in this country, my brothers and sisters, comes from Muslim countries. We have this documented. They attack us, because they don't like this leadership of the Muslim community.

"This is our Jihad, our weapon is our vote. That is what we are going to fight with.

"When you are good voters, strong voters, you can demand that Congress put money for those whom they have caused to be refugees and those whom they caused to flee their own countries because of this false and faulty foreign policy that they have conducted in the Middle East and all over the Muslim world.

"We had a terrible, miserable, humiliating withdrawal from Afghanistan. We left Iraq in a terrible, terrible situation, [it was] the most corrupt country [when] we left it behind us. Is Syria any better? Is Yemen any better? Is Libya any better? Can you tell me if any country is better [off]? I told that to the top State Department official. I said: 'Give me one example that you conducted foreign policy [in a manner] that you can be proud and face the American people, and tell them that their money was worth what we have gotten – unless that was exactly your [intentional] policy, chaos and destruction in that area?'

"Our fight, as I said, and our Jihad, is our political involvement. Our weapon in our vote. If you do not vote you are helping the enemies against your own. You are contributing to the death and destruction overseas."
