Nabil Shaath, an advisor to PA President Mahmoud Abbas, said in a September 4, 2020 interview on TRT Arabic TV (Turkey) that at the recent conference of 14 Palestinian faction leaders, the Palestinians stressed that they have a right to total confrontation with Israel, including economic boycotts and that they are prepared to conduct an armed intifada. Shaath added that the Palestinians will not give up their struggle until the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza comes to an end and until an independent Palestinian state is established with Jerusalem as its capital.
Interviewer: "Don't you think that this war needs more than just the language of peace and diplomacy?"
Nabil Shaath: "We are doing more than using the language of peace and diplomacy. You must have followed the meeting of the Palestinian faction leaders yesterday, where we stressed the point to the entire world, that it is our right to enter complete confrontation with Israel, in the full sense of the word."
Interviewer: "What are your means of opposing the Deal of the Century, and the race toward Arab normalization [with Israel] and maybe even the Islamic normalization [with Israel] in a little while, who knows?
Shaath: "We are moving in all directions. I believe that our efforts in the region include Turkey and Iran. Our efforts in the world include Russia, China, Europe, and other selected countries. Our efforts in the Arab countries include those who are willing to support us. We are completely ready to unite our ranks, in order to return to the confrontation and the Intifada against Israel. We are ready for a total economic boycott of Israel. It is now possible and we made it very clear yesterday. What more can we do?

"We will not respond to the Deal of the Century with another Deal of the Century. We are saying loud and clear: We will not give up our struggle, and we will not give up our efforts until the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza comes to an end, until an independent Palestinian state is established, with Jerusalem as its capital, until the refugees have the Right of Return, and until the Palestinians inside the occupied lands get equal rights."
