Palestinian Islamic scholar Mraweh Nassar, Secretary-General of the Jerusalem Committee of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, said that Western society attacks Islam because it sanctions polygamy, yet it is full of infidelity. He made these remarks in an interview that aired on Channel 9 (Turkey) on March 2, 2021. Nassar explained that there are more women than men in the world and there are many times when they abstain from sex, such as during their period or after childbirth. Polygamy allows men to fulfill their desires without sinning. He said that Christian monks, who "consider marriage to be impure and filthy and they abstain from it," used to "fornicate with the nuns, and when the nuns got pregnant, they killed the fetuses." Mraweh Nassar: "In any human society, there are more women than men, because typically, men work and die in wars more than women. So in any society, there is a majority of women. Some women may not give birth. There are many justifications [for polygamy], but only Allah knows. Islam has permitted polygamy because it is better for men to have more wives than to sin. Women have their monthly period every week. When they give birth, they abstain [from sex] for 40 days or two months. Some men want to... This is the natural disposition of human beings. If they do not [have sex] the right way, they get it by sinning.

"Western societies claim to ban polygamy and they attack Islam. One French leader caught his wife cheating on him with another man, and killed her. When he was asked at the trial why he killed her, he said: 'She cheated on me.' So the judge asked him: 'And how many women have you had in your life?' He answered: 'I have had 150 women.' He cheated [on his wife] with 150 women. If this man would have been allowed to practice polygamy, there would be no problem... They lie and make false claims. It's the same with the churches.

"In many churches, there were scandals. When they moved churches from one place to another or expand them, they would find dozens of fetuses in the crypts. Those monks consider marriage to be impure and filthy and they abstain from it, but they would fornicate with the nuns, and when the nuns would get pregnant, they would kill the fetuses."
