Dr. Nasser Al-Laham, editor-in-chief of the Palestinian Authority's Maan News Agency, said that Israel was a "barbaric beast" and that he did not recognize the state or its borders. Al-Laham, who also serves as head of Mayadeen TV's Palestinian Bureau, said, with regard to the moving of the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem: "We all know what happened to the American embassy in Vietnam, and what happened after the bombing of Saigon. We all know what happened to the American embassy in Libya." Tel Aviv, he said, "will return [to us], just like Hong Kong returned to China." His comments were broadcast by Maan News Agency on May 14, the day of the opening of the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem.
Dr. Nasser Al-Laham: "Israel is not even a state and is not worthy of respect. Those fences are not borders that should be respected. Israel has acted barbarically. Therefore, the official political discourse, as well as the popular discourse, should be: 'We are dealing with a barbaric beast' – not with 'the other side' or with 'Israel.' This is the plundering Zionist entity. The Right of Return is the best slogan that has been raised from 1993 to this day. The demonstration in Haifa today emphasizes this – the Right of Return. Even if they build skyscrapers all over Jaffa and call it Tel Aviv, it will return [to us], just like Hong Kong returned to China.

"As for the American embassy in Jerusalem – we all know what happened to the American embassy in Vietnam, and what happened after the bombing of Saigon. We all know what happened to the American embassy in Libya... American embassies have been the symbol of injustice all over the world, for the past 100 years."
