Palestinian political analyst Zaid Alayoubi slammed Hamas on a January 31, 2024 interview with Sky News Arabia (UAE), saying that everyone in Gaza is complaining about Hamas, saying: "True, Israel is killing us, but Hamas is also killing us." He added that Hamas has taken control of the humanitarian aid that has entered the Gaza Strip and it is distributing it according to their whims. Alayoubi said that Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh has recently called for a ceasefire and Israeli military withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, but he had called the October 7 attack a "war of liberation." He asked: "Where is the liberation you promised us?" Al-Ayoub further asked what the political results of the attack have been and how did Palestine benefit from it.
Zaid Alayoubi: "Since the beginning of the war, many of the people of Gaza have been complaining, and said that Sinwar, Haniyeh, and the Hamas leaders, were responsible for going to war in this manner. Peoples' houses have been destroyed, thousands of people have been displaced, and some people have lost their entire family. No trace is left of hundreds of families. Today, the people of Gaza are saying: True, Israel is killing us, but Hamas is also killing us.

"Hamas takes over the humanitarian aid, which is intended for the displaced people in Rafah, Khan Yunis, and the Gaza Strip. Hamas's treatment of the people is tyrannical. It distributes [the aid] according to its whims and its own criteria. As a result, [the anger of ] the people is exploding. The citizen who just said that not only the occupation is killing us, but also Hamas – he was right. This sentiment is shared by all the people in Gaza. Gaza in its entirety is speaking this way.

"Today, Ismail Haniyeh is saying: Our first demand is that the aggression is stopped. In other words – a ceasefire. Second, we demand that the Israeli army withdraws from the Gaza Strip. You called it a war of liberation, but now, after all the destruction, the massacres, the victims, and the martyrs, you say that you want a ceasefire? Where is the liberation you promised us? Where is the 'Flood of Jerusalem?' Where is it? Where are the political results? I would like to ask Ismail Haniyeh, as a Palestinian, and not as an opponent of Hamas: Show me the political results of the 'Al-Aqsa Flood.' How did Palestine benefit from this?"
