On November 28, 2020, Al-Jazeera Network (Qatar) aired a report, stating that Qatari Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani has condemned the November 27 assassination of senior Iranian nuclear scientist IRGC Brigadier General Mohsen Fakhrizadehh. According to the news anchor, Al-Thani called Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and told him that the assassination is only adding fuel to the flames at a time when the region is looking to reduce tensions and to return to dialogue. Al-Thani also reportedly called for restraint and for seeking solutions to pending issues.

The Qatari Foreign Minister said, in the phone call with his Iranian counterpart that Fakhrizadeh's assassination will only add fuel to the flames. He said that the [assassination] has taken place at a time when the region and the international community are looking for ways to reduce tensions and to return to dialogue and diplomacy. The Qatari Foreign Minister called for the exercise of restraint and to seek comprehensive solutions to the pending issues."
