In a TV interview, Russia ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin said that Russia's fight against terrorism in Syria was a "preventative measure." "We don't want terrorism to reach the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Russia," he said. The interview aired on the Lebanese NBN TV channel on February 24, 2016.
Alexander Zasypkin: "We must fight terrorism, and we know who the terrorists are. Therefore, we must not be distracted by other, unrelated, things. Our fight against terrorism in Syria is, to a great extent, a preventative measure. We don't want terrorism to reach the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Russia. Lebanon is fighting terrorism, including in Syria, because it does not want it to spread into Lebanese territory.
