Friday Sermon by Mahmoud Habbash, Advisor to PA President: The Forces of Colonialism Have Been Conspiring for Centuries to Plant Here a Foreign People with No Religious or Historical Connection to Palestine

Mahmoud Habbash, an advisor to PA President Mahmoud Abbas, said in a Friday, November 29, 2019 sermon that aired on Palestine TV that the entire world conspired against the Palestinian people to issue the United Nations Partition Plan in 1947. He said that the forces of colonialism, arrogance, tyranny and aggression have been conspiring since the Middle Ages to plant a foreign entity in the heart of the Arab-Islamic world by bringing to Palestine foreigners who have never had any religious or historical connection to the land and telling them that it had been the land of their forefathers. Habbash said that the Canaanites and Jebusites who had built Jerusalem, Hebron, Nablus, and Gaza had been Arabs.

Following are excerpts:

Mahmoud Habbash: On this day, 72 years ago, the entire world, perhaps, conspired to commit a shameful act of injustice against Palestine and its people. On that day, the entire world sided with injustice instead of justice, when the United Nations issued the [1947] Partition Plan. Those who colluded and conspired thought that Palestine was about to disappear from the map, and that its people were about to disintegrate and disappear as well, and that this would be the end of the Palestinian cause. In place [of the Palestinians], they would bring foreigners who never had any religious or historical connection to this land and who would be told that this was the land of their forefathers.

This conspiracy was concocted by the forces of colonialism, arrogance, tyranny, and aggression, since the middle of the Middle Ages. Since before the 17th century, the forces of Western colonialism have wanted to plant a foreign body in the heart of the Arab-Islamic world. They wanted an entity that would be their ally, alien to the locals, and that would serve as a spearhead in the heart of the nation, in order to sweeten their colonialist, tyrannical, and aggressive dreams. By the way, they never cared about the interests of the Jews. On the contrary, most of the tragedies inflicted upon the Jews throughout history took place [in the West] and were perpetrated by it.

We must return to the original narrative, which is [about] us. We are the pillars of this narrative and its owners. Palestine, 6,000 years ago, was full of the Arab culture of the Canaanies and Jebusites. They are the ones who built its civilization. They built Jerusalem, Hebron, Nablus, and Gaza.
